If you're a fan of the current A8, don't worry. The 2015 Audi A8 that arrives this summer gets only minor styling changes along with several technology upgrades. The grille and bumper show a subtle aesthetic shift, the hood is a little more creased and sculpted, the taillamps and LED headlights are redesigned and the trunk offers more room and an improved layout.

INTERIOR

The current A8's skimpy trunk is one of our few major gripes. At 13.2 cubic feet, it's well undersized compared to its competitors. Audi promises a larger trunk and improved packaging for the 2015 A8, claiming 18.3 cubes. It's worth noting that European and American measurements of space efficiency differ, but if the new A8 splits the difference, that more closely aligns it with the cargo capacity of its high-end luxury rivals.

The 2015 Audi A8 also gets a few new interior treatments -- silver and gold flake dusted into the pores of fine-grain ash wood, for example -- as well as new driver assistance systems. Active lane assist adds a small amount of steering correction if the A8 starts wandering from its lane, while parking assist offers a 360-degree camera view and handles the steering when slotting into a space. A head-up display and night vision are also available.

UNDER THE HOOD

Engine choices remain the same, with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 delivering 333 hp and 325 pound-feet of torque in the base model. More power is on tap from the optional turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, now making 435 hp and 444 lb-ft of torque. If you're particularly hungry for power, there's always the optional 500-hp 12-cylinder, now offering cylinder deactivation for improved gas mileage.

An Audi lineup wouldn't be complete without a diesel option of course, and in this case it's a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 with 240 hp and a robust 406 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive come standard on every A8.
